Poem: “Wonder Lust”

Before I die, I will taste the world
For I see and seek creation

At heart my goal is simple:
To be honest and enduring

I long to be a traveler
And connect across the worlds
To emote and dance remotely
With whoever crosses my path
Make a distant stranger feel
A curious conviction
Some tremor of truth
A bit of agitation or peace
From one of my fictions

I need someone to know me
To acknowledge and appreciate
A life lesson underpinned
By a labor of love attempted
To feel a frog in their throat
A chill run down their spine
A gasp of stark realization
Feel a calm wave of presence
From beyond my place and time

My world set within plaster
Like a light trapped in a vessel

A jinn housed in a lamp
A benevolent sort of ghost
So your soul may be reflected
From the cool waters of past
A meeting of foreign minds
A knowledge of some sameness
My death be a creation
A relic anyone could find

To caress from beyond:
That is my soul's hope

But meaning is the present
So I owe opposing influences
To my goal towards immortality
Impulsed to review the past
Compelled to receive the present
Fully, painfully, blissfully wary
Knowing this life has no reprise
To then perceive the future
with no remorse

Take loss of my innocence
Shape up in ways I’m due
I can only continue being me
You can only ever become you
All in everything
I must flit and finish
In the space-time I am allotted
Within the infinite menace of beyond

Then I must lay claim to mastery
And all at once remain a beginner

Since every prophecy
Must be foretold
I’ll make a bold claim
In this moment on this day:

Before I die,
I will eat the world
For it is the seed,
and I the sinner.

two feelings
On my goal towards immortality
Opposing influences, impulses
To enjoy the present, knowing there's no reprise
And perceive the future without remorse
From the infinite menace of beyond

So I must lay claim to mastery
And all at once remain a beginner

So I claim it now
And I must be bold

I want to say it
So it may remain foretold

Before I die, I will eat the world
For it is the seed, and I the sinner

My soul put into my art so that you may see yours reflected

That is what my soul hopes

I want to touch from beyond
That is my life’s hope
